There’s no such thing as a casual romance in this unforgettable Accidental Billionaires novel by New York Times bestselling author J. S. Scott.
After finishing a hard-won medical residency, Owen Sinclair now lives his dream as a family physician. The windfall that brought him newfound wealth has also made handsome Dr. Sinclair the town’s most eligible bachelor. But Owen’s eyes are on Layla, his onetime best friend, his clinic’s dedicated nurse practitioner, and the one woman in Citrus Beach who has no interest in either his body or his billions.
In high school, Owen and Layla were always there for each other. Layla could confess almost anything to him. But wanting more than friendship was a confession too far, and Layla’s teenage longing was crushed in a heartbeat.
Two buried hurts are now in need of mending, and Owen has a proposition—if Layla is game. It’s a matter of trust as they discover so much more about the past, each other, and themselves. It’s not too late. Maybe they can make up for lost time. A love this true is worth the wait.
Layla and Owen used to be best friends until something happened right before graduation that caused Layla to stop talking to Owen. Now, after years of working his butt off to graduate from med school, Owen is home with his own clinic and working with Layla.
Layla isn't too pleased with Owen since she thinks he screwed her over before graduation. Sadly she's being thrown together with Owen time and time again since her best friend married his brother. When they figure out the misunderstanding Owen jumps at the chance to be more than friends and asks her to be his pretend girlfriend, hoping that over time they'll become more.
J.S. Scott wrote such an amazing story with Endeared. The story had the perfect amount of including the past stories in the series without overloading it and making us first-timers to the series feel like we need a code breaker to understand the story.
Owen and Layla felt like such relatable and fun characters. Owen struggled with the fact that after he was finished chasing his dream that life had moved on without him and he had to someone find out who he and his siblings were again after all that time.
Layla was dealing with a lot of her past trauma and things that she hid from everyone close to her. I enjoyed how she slowly started realized she had people around her that would be there for her and that cared about her so she was able to open up about her concerns.
Endeared was a great story. I enjoyed the slow build of the characters getting together.

Writing what she loves to read, Jan pens both contemporary and paranormal romances. They are almost always steamy, generally feature an alpha male, and include a happily ever after—she just can’t seem to write them any other way!
Jan lives in the beautiful Rocky Mountains with her husband and two very spoiled German shepherds, and she loves to connect with readers.
