Blurb:
They call him the Duke of Ruin.

To an undaunted wallflower, he's just the beast next door.

Wealthy and ruthless, Gabriel Duke clawed his way from the lowliest slums to the pinnacle of high society—and now he wants to get even.

Loyal and passionate, Lady Penelope Campion never met a lost or wounded creature she wouldn’t take into her home and her heart.

When her imposing—and attractive—new neighbor demands she clear out the rescued animals, Penny sets him a challenge. She will part with her precious charges, if he can find them loving homes.

Done, Gabriel says. How hard can it be to find homes for a few kittens?

And a two-legged dog.

And a foul-mouthed parrot.

And a goat, an otter, a hedgehog . . .

Easier said than done, for a cold-blooded bastard who wouldn’t know a loving home from a workhouse. Soon he’s covered in cat hair, knee-deep in adorable, and bewitched by a shyly pretty spinster who defies his every attempt to resist. Now she’s set her mind and heart on saving him.

Not if he ruins her first.

My Review:
I love Tessa Dare's stories. They're always so enjoyable and The Wallflower Wager was no exception. I loved this story from beginning to end. I had so many laughs while I was reading this story. It was fabulously written with an amazing cast of characters.

Gabriel is trying to flip a house but has been having issues getting the house ready. During one of his visits, he finds out why. His neighbor, Lady Penelope has like all the pets and they keep interfering with Gabriel's workers. When Gabriel confronts Penelope about his issues, she agrees to calm her pets down if he helps her keep her house and independence.

Penelope's brother wants her to move back home with him. She doesn't want this at all, as the trauma from her past is tied to her home. When Gabriel says he'll help her keep her home by getting rid of her pets and reintroducing her back to the society she finds herself quickly falling for him.

Penelope was funny. I loved this story. She loved her pets so much and was just a struggling mess in society it was funny to read about. I loved how she challenged Gabriel to come out of his broody and jaded shell.

Gabriel was fabulous as well. All yummy book boyfriend material and just great protector of Penelope even when he didn't want to be. I loved how Penelope would just completely throw him off his game. His reactions had me rolling. He had a dark and tragic past people didn't know much about because he was a made man, which caused him to try and stay away from and sabotage his relationship with Penelope even though he was quickly falling for her.

I loved this story. It was fabulous. The story was fabulous, funny and full of all the sexy times. Plus, any story with pets is always a win.
