Is Book Blogging Dying?

It's that time of the month again (no not that time)! I've noticed in recent years, like the last two or three, that more and more book bloggers are leaving the scene.

I started my book blog back in 2012 and at the time there seemed to be thousands upon thousands of other book nerds like myself out there supporting books through their book blogs.

I was constantly going through and discovering new books from other blogs that left my TBR pile in a constant state of growth.

Then in the last couple of years, it seems like more and more book blogs are shutting their doors or taking breaks that last forever and it got me wondering if book blogging is dying and why that might be.

Last month I brought up the topic that book blogging is a very time-consuming hobby. It's taxing at times and I feel like I'm always trying to keep up with the demand of book reviews, review sites that need to be updated, updating my own page, commenting on other blogs, all the while trying to keep some semblance of a social life outside of blogging.

It's always been a balancing act, but I do wonder why it's been lagging in the last few years. My thoughts are that as all of us lovely bloggers are getting older we have less time and interest in sitting in front of a computer screen for hours, but that's just a hypothesis.

I don't have any real answers, but I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this? Have you noticed a decline in new book bloggers and old book bloggers? Have you thought about quitting yourself?
