I saw this on an amazing blog called Lisa Loves Literature and I immediately fell in love with the idea. It originally comes from a blog called Lost in a Story. It's all about cleaning up our generally overflowing TBR pile, and I for one need some real help with that.
Anyway, it works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
- Read the synopses of the books.
- Decide: keep it or should it go
I'm still working through my ebooks this week. I had 797 last time before cleaning and haven't added anything new so I'm doing pretty well this so far! Going to go through another 30!
Meet the Wild Boys... Four fiercely loyal, sinfully sexy, uber alpha brothers, about to fall head over heels for their leading ladies. Meet the Bad Boys... Four fiercely loyal, sinfully sexy, uber alpha brothers, about to fall head over heels for their leading ladies.
Everything's naughtier after dark...
No last names. No strings. No ties.
Except for the silk variety.
Dr. Heath Wild and Allyson Jenner only wanted a simple tryst. But Heath couldn't live with just one night, just one taste, of Ally--and Ally couldn't escape the memory of his hands on her skin, the way he looked at her like she was his obsession, or his seduction, which had pushed her to the edge and had made her want to do things she never had before.
One night leads to one tantalizing phone call. Can one phone call lead to forever?
Decision: Toss, I don't really enjoy Melissa Fosters' books.
He knows what I’m doing, too.
That’s why he shows up twenty-three minutes later, freshly showered with a condom in his pocket and a barely dissolved breath mint on his tongue.
I smirk as he looms over me. “You are such a dirty old man.”
“We need to stop doing this.”
“Because you’re twenty-one and I’m not. Because I want to take you on a f***ing date and you won’t. Because we wind up yelling at each other half the time.”
“But the rest of the time you’re inside me and it feels so good, right?”
His eyes darken and I don’t need to look down to know he’s hard for me.
Decision: Toss, it seems like I'd have to read book one to understand this one and book one holds no interest for me.
Evan's words- Evan's lies- rang hollow in my head as I left for college.
And though change is an inevitable, scary part of life, just lying in wait around the corners and milestones you thought you had a lock on, there's no way I could've known just how much change, that would never change back, I was driving right toward.
But... when the time came to shut doors on my old life, the door to my new life opened- and in strolled Dane Kendrick, awakening the wildest of dreams, delights, and desires that I never knew slept inside me.
And now, it's time to let the real Laney Jo Walker emerge.
Decision: Toss, no love triangles.
Decision: Keep, I kind of want to try this since I'm a sucker for friends-to-lovers stories.
Gibson Evans is the best college football quarterback in the country. He’s tall, broad, tattooed, and so incredibly handsome.
And he got me pregnant. It was supposed to be just one night, but a broken condom changed all of our plans forever.
People treat him like a hero, but I think he’s a total prick. Gibson gets whatever he wants, and now suddenly he wants me.
But I have enough to deal with. I have to stop daydreaming about his hands between my thighs and concentrate on having this baby while still managing to graduate on time.
He wants to make a deal. If I promise to spend time with him, he’ll help me with my final biology research. That means an entire semester of studying Gibson’s body.
I’m not sure I can do this. One second I can’t stand to be around him, and the next I’m touching his ripped muscles and trying to suppress my excitement.
I’m terrified he’ll ruin everything if I let this become more than just work.
Decision: Toss, I haven't liked one book by this author.
Which sinful bad boy tale will be your favorite?
The bad boy next door and the good girl? The football player and the geeky heroine? The sexy footballer and his tough-as-nails intern? Or maybe the professor and his naughty student who needs a spanking?
There are plenty to choose from... Are you ready to dive in?
Each of our authors wrote a steamy novella featuring their favorite couple. Don't miss this hot not-to-be-missed limited time bundle!
Decision: Toss, I don't like anthologies.

And that sometimes, being chosen is the worst that can happen.
Decision: Keep, this sounds awesome and I can't believe I haven't read it yet.

Decision: Toss, I don't really enjoy A.L. Jackson's books either.

Decision: Toss, as excited as I was about the concept of an immortal librarian I'm not super into Greek mythology.
Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can't resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. When beautiful Skylar Rossaria approaches him to break a prisoner out of the Collective's maximum-security prison on Trakis One, Rico jumps at the chance. Being hunted by the Collective has never been so dangerous–or so fun!
Decision: Toss, I think at one point I may have liked this story but no more vampires.

Right or wrong, I chose revenge.
But, what happens when not everyone is who you thought they were?
Sometimes, even the best-laid intentions don’t go to plan…
My name is Ella Moore. Vengeance will be mine.
Desire. Angst. Heart-churning emotion.
Beau Diesel…He was my “one”. My one that I would sacrifice everything for. My one that I wanted to be with until I took my final breath. My one that completed me.
I wanted him. I needed him. But he was off-limits. I knew this, but the risk of consequences didn’t outweigh the depth of my desire.
So, I fought for our love.
But, I wasn’t Beau’s “one”.
So, he fought against our love.
He fought so hard, eventually, I had to give up. I had to admit defeat.
But, that’s the thing about love – when you’re down and out, true love wins. It prevails…and it raises you up.
Explosive. All-consuming. Tear-jerking.

Decision: Toss, I think I was being freebie stupid.
Teaming up with a handsome rival named Ephrem, the banished Princess Lilliana must find her stolen Ardent talisman before a sinister enemy uses it against both rival wolf pack strongholds, intertwining the destinies of the two would-be lovers.
Decision: Toss, as much as werewolf books do it for me I don't think this one is for me.

Prince Kristos Andris was a respected captain in his nation's military... Was. It won't change what he knows he must do...
Only this is Garronia in the summertime, where passion has a way of ruining even the most sensible of plans.
Decision: Toss, I think this is another one that I was just one-clicking excitedly.
The day our parents announce their impending wedding becomes the worst day of my existence. Not only has Rex cemented himself in my social circle, but he's about to cement himself into my family.
I don't trust his mother. And I don't want anything to do with her egotistical, womanizing son, but deep down the only way to get rid of them both is to do something unimaginable with Rex himself. I'm playing with fire, dancing in the flames of his wicked grin, and soon enough I'm melting. The last thing I want is to become another victim of Rex Toberman's egotistical, womanizing ways.
But there's something about those bedroom eyes, that lewd smile, that body made of steel I cannot resist. Yes, getting rid of my soon-to-be stepbrother is tougher than I ever imagined--especially now that I never want him to leave.
Decision: Toss, I have so many Addison Moore books and I'm not super interested in step-sibling stories.

Until a toddler shows up at Jimmy’s door.
And throws their lives into total chaos.
Decision: Yeah, I need this. A Bears team player? Chicago? Yup yup yup. I don't generally like sportsbooks but Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart.
He wore the skin of a killer and bore the heart of a lover...

Decision: Keep, I know I said no on Melissa Fosters books, but I kind of want to try this one. Plus that cover!!
Football star and internet sensation Gavin “Anaconda” Adams is the biggest celebrity our little town has ever seen.
But I had no idea who he was when I accidentally walked in on him naked.
I was shocked, seeing all of him, a cocky grin on his face. I didn’t know what to do.
So I ran.
Now I’m in a world of trouble. No matter what I do, I can’t get that image out of my head. His strong muscular thighs. His washboard abs. His big, throbbing, toe-curling… Jesus!
To make matters worse, Gavin wants a date with me. He’s seen the lust in my eyes, and he’s not taking no for an answer. I should tell him to get lost. He’s nothing but trouble, and he’s only here for a week.
But with one look, I go weak in the knees. And whenever I hear his deep, rich voice, I feel my defenses crumbling.
It’s only one night. What could it hurt?
Decision: Keep, I've got like 3 copies of this book so I need to just sit down and read it for once.

"The lyrics are about you, Lena," he confessed, and I watched his mouth as the tip of his tongue moistened his lips before he leaned his head down. Then those beautiful lips were on mine, soft, tender at first, then his tongue glided over my lips, breaking the seal. My pulse throbbed and quickened as his tongue swirled around mine. Taking and controlling, and... and I wanted this, needed his touch. I went limp in his embrace, and the heat rose under my skin, my body vibrated against his strong powerful one. Was this really happening?"

Decision: Toss, no angels for me.
I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?

Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot-tempered.
I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, it has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.
She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't.
Decision: Keep, 100% keeping.
Overall: after going through 30 this week I tossed 21 and kept 9, leaving me with 778 books on my ebook pile.
How'd I do this week?
Did I toss too many or too few?
