“A bully romance like no other! One Eighty is a whole new take on a trope that I have quite the love/hate relationship with and this book landed on MEGA love for me. I’m super picky when it comes to bully romance, I need to see and be able to actually feel the characters to be able to love a hero that has done so many truly atrocious things, but Marie James took that to a whole new level with Dalton. There’s a lot of heartbreak in their story, a lot of forgiving, a lot of growing up and every bit of it had me glued to the pages.” ~Red Hatter Book Blog
My Review:I absolutely loved this book. Seriously I was pining away for this book since I read the description and was not disappointed.
Dalton is a complete world-class ass hole. There's no other word for it. He's a bully. When you get inside his head in the first couple chapters he had zero redeemable qualities. Not a one. You can tell kind of that he harbors a crush on Piper, but I wasn't rooting for him to get the girl. I was hoping he'd get hit by a bus. Seriously he's a spoiled boy who is used to getting what he wants and whoever he wants.
Piper, on the other hand, is an adorable and likable character from the first time we get a peak into her head. I felt so bad for her time and time again. Piper was the perfect example of someone who suffers from endless bullying time and time again. I enjoyed her character a bunch. She was sweet and caring and a little nerdy which was fun. If I had any complaint about this book it would be that she turned from an innocent nerdy girl to someone very interested in the sexy times. It felt a little rushed in that respect. Not that I wouldn't buy it, but I wish that aspect could have been more fleshed out.
Dalton and Piper get into a car accident together and Dalton wakes up not remembering who he is or who his parents are. Once Dalton starts recovering from the accident he wakes up basically a new person. He starts caring about his siblings and about Piper. I LOVED this Dalton. I enjoyed reading about his annoyance at his past self as well as the people in his life for not understanding that he'd changed. It made him a relatable and likable character which he seriously needed cuz seriously dude was a major douche.
I'm a little sad we won't be reading about Piper and Dalton in the next book, but I am hoping we'll get some peaks into their relationship in the next book. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for book two.
One-Eighty is an amazing book. I was in a bit of a slump and this book completely snapped me out of it. I loved it. I thought it was perfect. The pacing was overall well done. The character relationships were realistic and enjoyable. I loved that Dalton and Piper went on dates and I loved seeing the thoughtful steps Dalton took so he could be with Piper and show he is wasn't a complete ass.
This was an amazing book. An absolute must-read. I can't sing this book's praises enough. Go read it. Like now!
