I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart—the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword—with Logan’s help—I just might die by the sword...

My Review:
I LOVED THIS FREAKING SERIES SO FREAKING MUCH! I read this entire series in about two days. Before this series, I hadn’t read anything by Jennifer Estep and now I am slapping myself a million times because this series and her writing are beyond amazing.

Kiss of Frost picks up almost immediately after the first book leaves off. Gwen is required to receive weapons training with her crush Logan Quinn every morning before school. Needless to say, Gwen starts off terrible, which I loved. Gwen has amazing powers where she can touch an item and know the history surrounding said item. I enjoyed how Gwen struggled throughout the book. She wasn’t automatically good at everything. While that element of things often sucked for Gwen since she is being hunted by the Reapers who serve Loki.

Kiss of Frost was amazing. This book reminded me a lot of Frostbite by Richelle Mead from the Vampire Academy series. The series overall is very similar, but that didn’t bother me at all. For one because I loved Vampire Academy, and two because they aren’t identical in all that many ways besides the feel.

I loved Gwen’s character in the first book and that love only grew into the second book. Gwen is super strong and always tries to do the right thing. Gwen is great at looking out for herself and her friends. She loved her mom who was a detective and Gwen uses her mom’s knowledge along with her gift to find out peoples’ secrets. She’s almost always in trouble which I just found more endearing.

The secondary characters really make this story. Logan for one is beyond yummy and causes a lot of angst for Gwen since he said he can’t be with Gwen and so is now dating someone else. We’re introduced to two new characters who are Logan’s best friends who help Gwen with training, and they Gwen’s best friends she made in the first book. I love how the secondary characters all played a role in the story. they weren’t background noise or anything like that. Their story is important and just as vital to the plot as Gwen is.

I loved this book. The characters are amazing. I love all the characters, even the ones I don’t like. The bad guys make sense about their goals and I enjoyed reading about them almost as much as the Gwen. All the characters grow throughout the story, but you can still tell they have room to grow. There are action and angst and I was just so excited with every page. Despite how sometimes there was some predictability with the story I didn’t feel like much of the story was predictable. Plus, I have so much love for the cover for this book.

If you haven’t guessed I loved this book so much and loved it as much as the first.
