Release: Dreams of 18 by Saffron Kent

Violet Moore is in love with a man who hates her.

Well, to be fair, she kinda deserves it.

On her eighteenth birthday, she got drunk and threw herself at him, causing the biggest scandal of their sleepy suburban town.

Now, everyone thinks she’s a slut and he has disappeared. Rumor has it that he’s been living up in the mountains of Colorado, all alone and in isolation.

But Violet is going to make it right.

She’s going to find him and bring him back.

No matter how cruel and mean he is. Or how much he hurts her with his cold-hearted and abrasive ways, she won’t give up.

And neither will she think about his tempting lips or his sculpted muscles or his strong hands. The hands that she wants on her body, touching her, feeling her skin…

The hands that make her want to forget everything and kiss Graham Edwards – Mr. Edwards, actually -- again.

Because you don’t go around kissing your best friend’s dad, do you?

Even though that’s all you ever dream about.

My Review:
Holy smokes this book had me hooked from the first chapter. I couldn't sleep so I woke up super early and started this book. To say putting this book down to go to work was difficult. Throughout the day I found myself on my Kindle app. As soon as I got home I dug in and didn't put the book down until I finished. Absolutely fabulous considering I've had some difficulty being fully pulled in and immersed in the books I've been reading lately.

Violet has been in love with her neighbor Mr. Edwards since he first moved in when she was 16. She's spent her life thinking she's invisible, thinking Mr. Edwards never saw her. When she turns 18 she finds herself face-to-face with the man who has been her fantasy for two long years. All she wanted was a kiss. One kiss to last her a lifetime so she could remember the time she had him. Too bad that didn't work out. As soon as her lips touched his their lives were ruined.

Now it's 10 months later, and Violet hasn't forgiven herself for hurting her best friend and his dad, Mr. Edwards. On the road to make amends she decides to track Mr. Edwards down and apologize. Only when she gets there she realizes she has a lot more to do than apologies.

Okay, I'm going to end my little summary there. I am going to say I was hesitant to like this book from the prologue. Considering I work in schools on a daily basis I don't usually find books about teacher-student relationships very compelling. That being said Dreams of 18 was very well done in this regard. While Violet had a mad crush on Mr. Edwards she didn't act on them until she was 18 and completely out of high school.

This is my first exposure to Saffron Kent's books but let me just say holy damn this book was hot as heck. Like I had four fans going and was still swooning over the heat and chemistry between Violet and Mr. Edwards. Whew. Swooning a little bit just thinking about it again.

I loved Violet. Her story felt so tragic and talking about her struggles growing up in a house with no love and then coping with anxiety was beyond beautiful. Every time she would talk about her anxiety I felt like someone had reached into my innermost thoughts and pulled out exactly how it feels to deal with anxiety on a daily.

Mr. Edwards' POV's were few and far between but I loved every moment dedicated to his innermost thoughts. He was a tragic character who didn't know how to love or be loved. He was great and I was happy he got a happy ending.

I hope the rest of Violet's friends find their happily-ever-after and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Saffron's books in the future.
