My Review:Whew just finished this one and it's still running through my mind. The description for this book just drew me in and I was so excited when I was confirmed to be getting an ARC for this amazing sounding book.
Before I go into my review, can I just say I freaking love this cover? All the beautiful colors and the subtle background that only makes sense if you've read the book, amazing. I like the change up from two hot people kissing or man abs.
Forewarning, I've never read an A.K. Evans book, meaning I'm coming into the third Cunningham Security book having never read the other books. I had no idea what to expect so I went into reading this book with a sort of clean slate.
Desperate was amazing and such an apropos title. Ekko's life has been one tragedy after another. When she was a child she took care of herself while her mother was high on drugs. Then she was sent into foster care. A few months ago she was attacked and almost sent into drug trafficking ring. Now she's living out of her car after her ex-boyfriend was doing something shady. All she needs is a little more money and she'll be set to pay for her own apartment. Nothing in her life has gone right until Dom. Dom saved Ekko's life when she was attacked and he's been watching her struggle ever since. When he finds out she's living out of her car he offers her a place to stay until she can get back on her feet.
I really enjoyed this story. I liked Dom and Ekko and how the story focused on them as people and them as a couple. It wasn't just about the hot sexy times like some books can be. This book had a great balance of sexy time and couple time.
I enjoyed how Ekko just grew and grew as a character. She never let herself get pushed around and even though her life had been hard she didn't let that define her. I liked Dom's character too. He was so caring and sweet. I could tell right away that he cared for Ekko beyond the attraction they shared.
I will most definitely be picking up the rest of this series. This book was amazing. I enjoyed the twists that they put in the story, and I liked that it didn't feel false or out of place. The pacing of this story was good and I liked that I didn't feel lost about the characters or there backstories. The book had just the right amount of inner dialogue, description, and character interaction.

About the Author:
A.K. Evans is a married mother of two boys residing in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Lafayette College in 2004 with two degrees (one in English and one in Economics & Business), she pursued a career in the insurance and financial services industry. Not long after, Evans realized the career was not for her. She went on to manage her husband’s performance automotive business and drive the shop race cars for the next thirteen years. While the business afforded her freedoms she wouldn’t necessarily have had in a typical 9-5 job, after eleven years she was no longer receiving personal fulfillment from her chosen career path. Following many discussions, lots of thought, and tons of encouragement, Andrea decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.
Between her day job, writing, and homeschooling her two boys, Evans is left with very little free time. When she finds scraps of spare time, she enjoys reading, doing yoga, watching NY Rangers hockey, dancing, and vacationing with her family. Andrea, her husband, and her children are currently working on taking road trips to visit all 50 states (though, Alaska and Hawaii might require flights).
