Music Monday Returns: A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole

Music Monday is a blog review I posted on my blog to change up my reviews and share some music that reminds me of the book I was just currently reading. It's been a while since I've done one of these, but this book was definitely deserving of a Music Monday.

Songs:
Last Kiss by Taylor Swift

I still remember the look on your face
Lit through the darkness at 1:58
The words that you whispered
For just us to know
You told me you loved me
So why did you go
Away
Away
I do recall now
The smell of the rain
Fresh on the pavement
I ran off the plane
That July ninth
The beat of your heart
It jumps through your shirt
I can still feel your arms
But now I'll go sit on the floor
Wearing your clothes
All that I know is
I don't know how to be something you missed
Never thought we'd have a last kiss
Never imagined we'd end like this
Your name, forever the name on my lips
I do remember
The swing in your step
The life of the party, you're showing off again
And I roll my eyes and then
You pull me in
I'm not much for dancing
But for you I did
Because I love your handshake
Meetin' my father
I love how you walk with your hands in your pockets
How you kissed me when I was in the middle of saying something
There's not a day I don't miss those rude interruptions
And I'll go sit on the floor
Wearing your clothes
All that I know is that
I don't know how to be something you miss
Never thought we'd have a last kiss
Never imagined we'd end like this
Your name, forever the name on my lips
So I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep
And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe
And I'll keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are
Hope it's nice where you are
And I hope the sun shines
And it's a beautiful day
And something reminds you
You wish you had stayed
You can plan for a change in weather and time
But I never planned on you changing your mind
So I'll go sit on the floor
Wearing your clothes
All that I know is that
I don't know how to be something you miss
Never thought we'd have a last kiss
Never imagined we'd end like this
Your name, forever the name on my lips
Just like our last kiss
Forever the name on my lips
Forever the name on my lips
Just like our last

We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Til the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them it won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singin' this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day

My Review:
A Thousand Boy Kisses... I can't even fully express how amazing this book is. I've been reading Tillie Cole's books for a little while now and when I saw A Thousand Boy Kisses go on sale I nabbed it up. This book was perfect and nothing like I expected.

I had no real knowledge of what this book was about outside of thinking it was going to be great because Tillie Cole wrote it. What I got out of the book was nothing short of an emotional and heart-wrenching book. I honestly was not expecting any of what happened with this story. It tore me open and left my heart bleeding. I cried throughout 98% of this book. Even after reading it weeks later I still sit and think about this book and I shed a couple tears. This was the perfect book. Honestly, I would buy this book for everyone I know if I could.

Poppy and Rune have been together for their entire lives. When Rune had to leave because of his family Poppy told Rune they would stay in contact. Then Poppy stopped contacting Rune and now two years later Rune is back and Poppy has to face the boy whose heart she broke.

I loved Poppy and Rune. Both amazing characters. Getting to read both of their POV's was awesome. They were both so amazing and I love how as Rune and Poppy became close again Poppy became stronger and Rune became less cynical.

The Songs: I chose the Last Kiss by Taylor Swift for a couple reasons. I felt the lyrics and tone of the song fit the song almost perfectly.

It expresses loving someone so much and missing them with every part of yourself. I loved that. A Thousand Boy Kisses also fits the perfect with the message of giving one last kiss to the love of your life.

The second reason I picked this song was because after I finished the book, this was the first song I thought of.

We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn was another perfect song for this book. I felt that it went with the message that the ones you love are never gone forever.

Honestly, this is the book I would recommend for everyone to read. This has been one of the best books I've ever read. Honestly, I generally don't buy books for friends or family unless they have it on their want to read list. This book is the total exception to that rule. I would buy this book for everyone.

Side: this book has some religious undertones to it. I'm not a particularly religious person, like at all, but I didn't feel like this book was ruled by it.

Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honors degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humor and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasseled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!
