ARC Review: Ravage by Tillie Cole

Scarred Souls #3
Kindle Edition, 336 pages
Published by St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: August 16th 2016

Taken by the Jakhua Clan as a teen, 194 was stripped of his name, his identity, and his freewill, meticulously honed to be a ruthless, soulless killing machine, trained solely to spill blood and stop hearts. This is a role he resents with every fiber of his being, but one he embraces to gain back the precious leverage the Georgians wield as their weapon of control: his younger sister, 152.

Zoya Kostava is in shock. After fleeing her mafia family's massacre in Georgia as a child, Zoya lives in secret, hiding from her enemies in the dark shadows of Manhattan. At age twenty-five, believing all her family is dead, word reaches Zoya that her brother Zaal is very much alive... and living with their family's greatest enemy: the Volkov Bratva in Brooklyn.

Yearning to be reunited with her beloved Zaal, Zoya risks her safety and anonymity for the brother she had mourned since childhood. But just as she reaches Zaal's apartment, Zoya is seized and taken captive by a strange man, who is strong, dark, and brutal... Unyielding, he demands her utter obedience as he locks her away in darkness. He is highly skilled in torture and inflicting pain, and demands to know everything about her brother Zaal and everything about her. He is a man that'll do anything to get what he wants.

Sometimes love requires the sacrifice and betrayal of those held most dear. But is finding one's true love worth committing the greatest sacrifice of all?

Reese's Review:
AH!!!!!! Tillie Cole is AMAZING!!! I honestly cannot read anymore of her books because they leave me in a reading coma for weeks after reading one of her books. Ravage was no different. Ravage was glorious and beautiful.

Valentine and his sister were taken as children by the Jakhua Clan who sell children for drugs, sex, and worse. Valentine also known as 194 has been stripped of everything he cares about and is forced to fight and kill for a woman who has taken his sister. His latest assignment is to track down and kill Zaal Kostava, but when he sees Zoya he takes her instead. Zoya had just learned her brother survived and had been tortured for years. She went to meet him for the first time when Valentine took her. Now she’s fighting her attraction to the real man behind the monster who torments her.

Ah such a good book. I won’t give too much away, but I will say this was an amazing book. Zoya was such a strong character and I was amazed at how much torture she endured to make sure her brother was safe. I like how realistic it was in a sense although the beginning of the torture it seems like the relationship is very unhealthy. Despite the harsh beginnings of their relationship their relationship makes sense. They live in a dark world and Valentine is the light spot for Zoya and Zoya is the light spot for Valentine. They are great together in the sense that they’ll do anything for each other and they understand each other.

Such a great story. I love that we still get Lucas’ POV. I wish we could have gotten Zaals again but we didn’t. Anyway, all the different POV’s really added to the story and I can tell that these crime families are doing everything they can to take down those who hurt them and other children before.

Such a great story. I suggest you read the books in order. Scarred Souls is a great series so if you’re looking for a good series to get into Scarred Souls is a great one to get into. Sexy times, action, amazing characters, and suspense on every page.

Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!
