“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

My Review:
After having to leave school for three semesters when her mother was murdered and her father killed himself Lorrie is back at school. Coming back to school early Lorrie takes a walk that ends with her being taken home with an extremely hot guy. When the guy goes to take a shower Lorrie runs away hoping she’ll never see him again.

Later that week, she goes out with her best friend on a double date and ends up face to face with Hunter a cage fighter. After ditching her date Hunter and Lorrie make a pact to be friends. Being friends with Hunter turned out to be easy and she enjoys spending time with him. He doesn’t pry into her life and is easy to be around.

When Lorrie goes to spend time with Hunter on Valentine’s Day things end up getting hot and heavy and the attraction Lorrie has tried hard to repress comes to the forefront and soon they begin dating, but Lorrie and Hunter’s secrets are quickly becoming something they may not be able to beat to be together.

I really loved most of this book. Hunter and Lorrie were adorable when they were hanging out and being friends. Learning about each other and them just being them was absolutely the best part of the book. Lorrie and Hunter had great banter.

It really made me mad when I was reading was AFTER they got together. All they cared about was having sex. They stopped studying, stopped hanging out with friends and being real characters. It made me mad because that was complete crap! It made me not like the characters anymore.

That ending with Hunter’s POV and finding out his secret and everything made up for it though. Can’t wait for the next installment because I enjoyed a lot of this story and can’t wait to find out what happens with the characters.

  1. There seem to be quite a few cage fighting hero books around lately, although surprisingly I haven't read any yet...I know crazy right?! I totally agree with you about hating when characters suddenly have no life away from the bedroom just because they're in a relationship, it's so annoying! But the rest of the book sounds good enough to excuse that small problem though, I especially love the banter between characters :D

I love comments!! Leave them and I promise to love you for ever!!! <3
