Comic Corner #1

Welcome to my first post in Comic Corner. I created Comic Corner to bring my love of all things comics to my blog. These posts will feature different comic type things like trailers, movie reviews, History of different characters and so on.

Captain America: Steve Rogers (2016-) #13 (Captain America: Steve Rogers, 2016 Series #13) by Nick Spencer

Blurb:
If Captain America has been an agent of Hydra since childhood, how did he fight WWII on the side of the Allies? The secret, untold story is revealed here!

Reese's Review:
There are a couple different story lines going on at this point. If you don't know this by now, Steve Rogers Captain America's history has been rewritten by the cosmic cube known as Kobik. Kobik was taken in by Red Skull to believe Hyrda is amazing. So she changed Steve Rogers past to believe he's Hydra.

Due to this change he thinks he is best friends with Zemo (Civil War villain in movies). Zemo has no memories of this "reality" so when the story cuts to Zemo it seems like Zemo is trying to take down Captain America, but it's too early to tell. Zemo is gathering other villains as an army.

During this comic the writ is Cap writing a letter to Zemo apologizing for letting him fown, this goes to flashbacks of the past on how he did this.

I know a lot of people don't really like this story plot line with Steve Rogers being evil, but I am finding this to be very interesting. I'm enjoying twist.

Captain America: Steve Rogers (2016-) #14 (Captain America: Steve Rogers, 2016 Series #14) by Nick Spencer

Blurb:
Madame Hydra! She's been pulling the strings on Captain America's life since before he even existed!

Reese's Review:
This comic focuses on Madam Hydra and her relationship to Steve Rogers. Madam Hydra is recruiting different creatures and villains to be apart of the Hydra High Counsel.

Thunderbolts (2016-2017) #11 by Jim Zub

Blurb:
Past and present collide as Bucky Barnes confronts the truth about Steve Rogers and the destructive path that led to becoming the Winter Soldier. "Return of the Masters" continues!

Reese's Review:
The Thunderbolts is a mix of superheroes and villains turned good that protect the world from different types of threats.

In this comic Bucky is injured by Zemo and Kobik tries to fix the reality by putting him in the past. I don't want to give anything away, but I enjoyed the twist at the end.

I loved this story. Bucky was amazing and I loved being back in the past with Captain America in the wrong past. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Captain America: Steve Rogers (2016-) #15 (Captain America: Steve Rogers, 2016 Series #15) by Nick Spencer

Blurb:
Only one man can lead Hydra into a new age of dominance and superiority! The Red Skull believes that he is that man! But Captain America thinks otherwise…it's a no-holds-barred final throwdown that you will not believe!

Reese's Review:
As you can tell from the cover Steve Rogers Captain America is going up against the Red Skull. The Red Skull previous to this issue had stolen Professor Xavier's telepathy powers. After a team of X-Men caught him they removed the powers from Red Skull and Red Skull becomes very weak. Then he escapes and comes face to face with a Captain America who really hates Red Skull.

I found this to be interesting to see why Cap was hating Red Skull.

Thunderbolts (2016-2017) #12 by Jim Zub

Blurb:
The Masters of Evil, the fate of Kobik, betrayal, destruction and the future of the Thunderbolts — "Return of the Masters" concludes here. Don't miss it!

Reese's Review:
Thunderbolts #12 picks up right where Thunderbolts #11 left off.

So Bucky comes out of the reality Kobik created for Cap and Kobik is very upset and starts destroying everything in a temper tantrum state. Kobik is a cosmic cube in child form. This comic broke my heart. it was so sad in just every way.  I can't wait to see what happens next, but I am also not sure I can take the heartache.
