FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE LOVING ON THE EDGE NOVELS, THE FIRST IN A SENSUAL NEW SERIES.
Overtime has never felt so good…
Marin Rush loves studying sex. Doing it? That’s another story. In the research lab, Marin’s lack of practical knowledge didn’t matter, but now that she’s landed a job at The Grove, a high-end, experimental sex therapy institute, she can’t ignore the fact that the person most in need of sexual healing may be her.
Dr. Donovan West, her new hotshot colleague, couldn’t agree more. Donovan knows that Marin’s clients are going to eat her alive unless she gets some hands-on experience. And if she fails at the job, he can say goodbye to a promotion, so he assigns her a list of R-rated tasks to prepare her for the wild clientele of The Grove’s X-wing.
But some of those tasks are built for two, and when he finds Marin searching for a candidate to help her check off her list, Donovan decides there’s only one man for the job—him. As long as they keep their erotic, off-the-clock activities strictly confidential and without strings, no one will get fired—or worse, get attached…
Exclusive to this edition only—a bonus short story.
Roni Loren continues to be one of those amazing authors who after writing so many phenomenal books continue to surprise me. Her books are one of my major book addictions. Whenever I see she’s writing another book I am constantly checking in to see if the book was released yet.
Marin Rush and Donovan West have a past and after years of thinking their paths would never cross again, until Marin’s brother gets into college and she needs the money to pay for him to go. Now Marin will be working under Donovan for three months until her probationary period is over. Marin thought it’d be a piece of cake, except her attraction to him hasn’t faded in the least over the years they’ve been apart. Donovan can’t have anything jeopardizing his promotion, not even Marin the girl who got away (literally) who blushes like a virgin whenever sex is brought up in counseling. Donovan proposes a solution: off the clock sexy times sessions to make Marin more experienced in all things dirty.
Marin has had a hard life taking care of her brother while working and going to both college and getting her Doctorate. Her move to The Grove is all about taking care of her brother because she wants him to get everything he could ever want. Marin grows a lot from the character who focuses on everyone else’s needs and becomes someone able to find a happy balance of having her own life while being there for the ones she loves.
Donovan has had a rough life and has been trying to fill the void from his broken past. He doesn’t believe in true love and can sometimes be a douche canoe. Donovan has a special talent for dirty talk that surprised me. I’ve never read anything like his sexy scenes. Donovan does a lot of growing in this story too, and I can’t wait to see what happens with both him and Marin in the future books.
I loved all the characters in this book. Marin’s character was hard working, a quick learner, with a strong and funny personality. Donovan was passionate and all kinds of yummy. I loved their back and forth, which was both hilarious and constantly riddled with sexual innuendo. The secondary characters were fantastic as well and I can definitely tell some of these characters are going to be getting some interesting stories sometime in the future.
I absolutely enjoyed Off the Clock. It’s hot, sexy and engaging. Seriously there are some very hot scenes in this story, sometimes I had to put the book down and fan myself a little bit while reading the scenes they were so steamy.
The pacing and writing was fabulous in this story. Nothing dragged or went to fast. There was an actually story around the characters instead of just sexy times which I expected since it’s Roni Loren. If you haven’t read anything by this amazing author yet Off the Clock is a perfect book to start. Everything about this book is fantastic and Roni Loren brings a new meaning to the word erotic.
Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has.
Though she’ll forever be a New Orleans girl at heart, she now lives in Dallas with her husband and son. If she’s not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her reading, watching reality television, or indulging in her unhealthy addiction to rockstars concerts.
She is the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the The Loving on the Edge series and other sexy things.
