He opened his mouth to order her to drop the MP5 she had aimed at him, but nothing would come out. It was like she'd robbed him of the ability to speak. Shooting her wasn't an option, though. And the idea of arresting her didn't make him feel any better.

There's a new gang of criminals in town who are organized and ruthless in the extreme. When Eric Becker, along with the rest of the Dallas SWAT team, ends up in the middle of a shootout, he immediately senses werewolves-a lot of them. Turns out, the new bad guys are a pack of wolf shifters.

In a spray of gunfire, Becker comes face-to-face with the most gorgeous woman he's ever seen. Becker does the logical thing. He hides her and leaves the scene with the rest of his team.

Jayna Winston has no idea why that SWAT guy helped her, but she's glad he did. Ever since she and her pack mates got mixed up with those Eastern European mobsters, everything had pretty much fallen apart.

So what's a street-savvy thief like Jayna going to do with a hot alpha-male wolf who's a police officer?

Reese's Review:
Eric Becker and his pack of SWAT alpha wolves were on an assignment to take down local thieves when Becker runs into Jayna, a wolf who seems to be working for the bad guys. Instead of killer her or taking her in for questioning, Becker hides Jayna so she can escape. Jayna only want to take care of her family, her pack. Except her alpha has gotten them tied to the mob and she doesn’t know how to get them out, until Becker. Becker tracks down Jayna and they come up with a plan for Becker to come undercover to help get her pack to safety.

There were a lot of ups and downs with In the Company of Wolves.

The characters were great. I enjoyed both Jayna who kicked some major butt and didn’t take crap from anyone. Becker was funny and definitely a source of humor in this story. The two characters were definitely adorable together.

The whole story was amazing. There was action, mystery, and character development. The whole cast of characters were amazing to read about. I liked how the whole story wasn’t fast paced, but steady which was nice. I also liked how I didn’t have to read the other books so know what was happening in this story.

My one issue with the story was the romance. Now don’t get my wrong I could totally believe that Becker and Jayna were liking each other and were even compatible, but the sexy scenes and thoughts about having sexy times with one another were AWAKWARD. They honestly didn’t feel like they belonged in this story. When I think of werewolf books with sexy scenes I’m thinking I need a fan not… wow how many times can a dude suppress a boner, because that happened. A lot. The two were always thinking during sex too. Like “huh he has nice jeans, and he looks good in them” type of thoughts. That was just boring and awkward to read about.

Overall I enjoyed this story. I thought the storytelling and plot were super enjoyable and the writing was steady and didn’t involve too much description for the characters to be lost. The sexy scenes left a lot to be desired, but the characters do a good job making up for that.
