Review: Devil's Game by Joanna Wylde

Devil's Game
Reaper's MC #3
Kindle Edition, 353 pages
Published by Berkley
Release Date: June 3rd 2014

Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks.

Reese's Reviews:
We got a glimpse of Hunter and Em in Reaper’s Legacy when Hunter and his brother from the Devils Jacks kidnapped Sophie and Em. Devil’s Game goes over how Hunter and Em first crossed paths and how their story gets them a happy ending. Em was Hunter’s target to get the Reapers on board with working with the Devils Jacks. When they started to get to know each other things became complicated because Hunter started to like her and Em had no idea Hunter was the enemy. Never the less the drug cartel is closing in and the Devil Jacks need the Reapers on their side and Em is the key to them working together.

I fell in the with the Reaper’s right away and thought this series couldn’t get better. Sadly this book fell flat for me and I’m not sure why. It lacked that extra something that I got from the other two books. Em is still a biker lady and a total badass, and Hunter is a complete alpha male who takes no crap from anyone. I honest think it was too NA for me while the rest of the series wasn’t. The romance felt too innocent for this series.

Hunter has been with the Devils Jacks since he killed his foster father to save his sister. He would do anything and everything for them including killing, sex, drugs, whatever you need he’s your guy. When Hunter gets Em for a job he likes her right away and they do the whole forbidden love thing because he wants to become vice-president but can’t if Em is his old lady since she’s a Reapers daughter.

Em is a virgin since none of the guys she’s ever been with have met her fathers’ standards. She was raised as a biker lady and really wants to lose her V card. When Painter becomes a full member of the Reaper’s she thinks it’s her time to finally have him. Until he bails yet again and now she wants her new best friend Hunter or Liam. When he kidnaps and betrays her she thinks it’ll be all over but she still wants Liam and after moving away from her dad she goes after what she wants.

I really liked the whole forbidden love thing. Liam “Hunter” was a really cute character to follow and I enjoyed Em’s strength. I wished there had been more interactions where they weren’t just trying to have sex but that’s how is goes. Overall I’m happy I read it since it’ll play into the next book but I didn’t love it as much as the first two.
